“I liked Pinkie on Happy Days when I was a kid!”
Leslie, better known as “Pinkie” or “Guerita” as she is often called is the driver of SHEGON, her naturally aspirated, manual, 2014 Ford Mustang GT and the owner of SHEGON Racing LLC! She came by her nicknames at a young age due to her blonde hair and love of pink!
“Everyone wants to know how I came up with SHEGON’S name! That is easy, as much I love to race, I figured if anyone was looking for me, one could just say “SHEGON Racing!” and that is how the name for my race team came to life!
Leslie says she can’t take the smile off her face when she is in SHEGON! She has been into racing, hot rods, and Mustangs for years. She started out as a BMX bicycle racer in her early teens.

She was number 1 in Texas 5 region, beating girls and the boys! Her Dad knew that if he didn’t teach her to respect speed at a young age, she would get hurt!

After bicycle racing, she moved on to her first car, a 1988 Ford Mustang GT when she was fourteen and yes it had a manual transmission! Her Dad bought the Mustang brand new and no sooner than picking it up at the dealership, Leslie said he took her to a Church parking lot and told her to put it in first gear and spin it in a circle! She did it, she was fourteen years old!
Leslie says she comes by the love of speed naturally; her Dad was a street racer in his 1964 Chevy Impala Super Sport back in the day! “He used to take me to Amarillo Dragway as a little girl! I knew then that I would be on the track someday! I owe my love for racing to him.”
After realizing as a teen how expensive car insurance was for newer Mustangs, Leslie bought a 1976 Camaro and built a 327 engine for it with her Dad! She still has it today!
“We looked for my dream Mustang, a 1969 Fastback; however, they were just too expensive and needed too much restoration.”
“My Dad took me to buy my Camaro! I had helped him put a roof on our house from a hail storm so he gave me $1000. I told my Dad, $1000 will not buy this car. He said “Yes it will, the guy is getting married, he needs the money!”, so I headed up to his front door! My Dad told me to fan the $1000 and hold it up in front of him! He opened the door and I said, “Will $1000 buy your car today?” He grabbed the money out of my hand and said yes!

“Picture shortly after my car came out of the paint shop! I won second place in my first car show!”
“My 327 was fast, at least, for a 15 year old girl! I cannot tell you how exciting it was to crank it after we had built the engine together! It was late, like 2 am, we didn’t care, it had open headers, we started it and took it around the block anyway! I was jumping out of my seat! “

“This is my Camaro today! I did a color change in 2005! The guy who painted it when I was 15, painted it again in 2005! One day it will have an LS with Twin Turbos in it! Then, I will SEND IT!!!”
Leslie has also been a nurse for 27 years! “I worked trauma in the Emergency Room for 20 years! Then I went in to Patient Safety, Risk Management, and legal! I currently manage the Patient Safety Program for Root Cause Analysis in the DFW area! It’s a BIG job, but I am passionate about safety and especially care about the safety of our patients!

“Hospitals have a lot of dynamics and it is so important to keep safety top of mind! I do the same on the racetrack! SAFETY is everything!”
“After high school, I did the normal life stuff, got married, raised kids, career, but now I am finally starting to make my lifelong passion and hobby come true with SHEGON!”
“Some people think I am making a statement for women in racing! Women in racing is awesome! For me though, I have always seen myself just a girl who enjoys racing and horsepower!”

“I bought SHEGON in September of 2018! After our daughter went to college, I told our Son that it was time to get some Mustangs and we no longer needed a 4 door car! So, I put my hubby on a mission to find SHEGON! I cannot tell you how excited I was to get her! SHEGON is a manual too!
“Everyone wants to know how I came up with her name! That is easy, as much I love to race, I figured if anyone was looking for me, one could just say “SHEGON Racing!”
“In the past year, SHEGON and I have been on so many adventures, but my personal favorite is Lynn modifying SHEGON to make her faster and I love racing together! What a whirlwind it has been! On May 4, 2019 I raced on a drag way for the first time! In high school, we went out to the County and raced!
Then on July 1st, I raced on my first ever set of slicks and I was hooked, literally! SHEGON hooked so good, I got the wheels up off the track! What a rush!
This is the night “SHEGON Racing” was born!
On July 13, I met my first fan from San Antonio at the LMR Cruise In! Her and her husband requested my autograph, what an amazing day!
By July 20th, I was working to put SHEGON racing in an LLC! Done! In August, my cousin drew the Coyote in my logo for me since I have the Coyote engine and I worked to secure my logo as a trademark! SHEGON logo was trademarked on August 27, 2019!
Since then, I have been learning each mod, going to test n tune, and learning how to improve my driving of SHEGON! Every time I go to the track I get faster!
